Visual Anthropology / Photo Ethnography

For my graduation project, I am planning to do a trading card game (the physical card game and the digital form). The concept around my card game is based on Irish folklore and mythology. Recreating them like the battle in the Irish fairy tales. But to understand how to make the game, I need to understand why people enjoy playing this type of game.

For starter, in this picture you can see a lot of people are playing trading card game and all of them are teenagers. This make them my target audience. You can see that people gather together just to play cards. I have notice that most of them are play Yu-gi-oh, a Japanese card game. Some of them are playing Vanguard and Weiss Schwarz (both of these card games are also from Japan). My hypothesis let me to think that these people like to play card games because it comes from Japan or the dynamic anime illustration style.

Maybe I will go to that approach if I want to cater my target audiences.
